Why I think marriage is like flying
Really pleased with the new visuals for Rebellious Bride’s brand new Las Vegas style wedsite! Special thanks go to “ice lady” and graphic designer Johanna Nordblad, who many of you will have seen on Ian Derry‘s breathtakingly beautiful video for Nowness. Together we created the look for HEL – the city of broken dreams.
To be perfectly honest with you, I’ve never actually been to Vegas for my fear of flying. But you never know – there are people s*itting their pants crossing the Atlantic every day! Personally, I think marriage is a bit like flying and here’s why:
His and Hers guitar cases at Helsinki-Vantaa airport
You “check in” with the one you love and head to the “gate”.
Somewhere before I do’s you try to leave some of the old baggage behind – or if you’re lucky enough, find someone who is ready and willing to unpack yours with you.
Some flights are bumpier than others, some don’t end up going the route you choose no matter how much you love the person you’re flying with.
The wisest thing you can do is learn to press for “help” when you need it. (Don’t be afraid to ask for an upgrade, either.)
In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, always put the mask over your own mouth first.
Sometimes an emergency landing is necessary, but remember: you must get back onboard again…
…because the more you fly, the more frequent flyer points you’ll gain! Experience only makes married life richer.
Welcome to HEL – the city of broken dreams.
If the thought of heading to the “gate” terrifies you – the mileage on the clock is not the issue – Rebellious Bride’s alternative wedding site is here for you. I hope you’ll enjoy the blog, the book or perhaps book me to entertain you and your guests on your big day? My marriage information show is First Class! Join the wedding party on Pinterest, Instagram, FB or Twitter and share.
I’m off to the UK’s most unromantic city of Hull next. (Yes I do fly, but only with Finnair.)
Happy landings!
